Application Requirements

Applications to take part in the conference along with abstracts are being accepted until September 8 by email: icarejunior@gmail.com. Applications undergo a double-blind review, with applicants being notified of the results by email before September 19.

Requirements for article abstracts/texts

  1. Full name (name, surname and middle name) of the author. Name of organization where work was carried out; faculty; course; and surname, initials and academic title of academic supervisor/consultant.
  2. Report from www.antiplagiat.ru proving that the article is at least 80% original material.
  3. Length of article should not exceed 10,000 characters (with spaces). Shorter articles are welcome.
  4. Abstract in Russian and English (4-6 lines).
  5. Keywords (3-5) in Russian and English.
  6. Automatic hyphenation cannot be used.
  7. No more than 10 sources are recommended for use in the article. All sources must be referenced in the text of the article. Sources must be listed at the end as References.
  8. Numbered list: manual (automatic numeration ‘shifts’ when entered into design programme).
  9. Bulleted list: automatic. Bullets should be the same throughout the entire article.
  10. Dashes in sentences (as punctuation between parts of a sentence) are em dashes (—): Ctrl + Alt + Num Lock + - (right-hand keyboard). In numerical (1–3; 1993–1999, etc.) and spatial (Moscow-St. Petersburg) intervals an en dash is used without spaces. In words (as an orthographic character), a dash without spaces is used: twenty-five, cross-reference, self-evident, etc.

    Tables
    • Numeration: uniform through article
    • Scanned tables, tables in .jpeg format are not permitted
    • Table number: above name, right justified, usual punctuation; font 14, single spaced, spacing before = 6, after = 0
    • Table names: centre above table, bold text, font 14, single spaced, spacing before = 0, after = 6
    • Table format: uniform throughout article
    • Font: Times New Roman
    • Font size: 12; volumetric tables: no less than 10
    • Line spacing: single
    • Graph titles: centre, bold text
    • Tables should not have empty cells — dashes are used if data are absent; all columns and lines should have names
    • The first words of each section should be capitalized
    • Tables should be set in MS Word
    • All tables should contain references in text
    Formulas
    • Spacing between formulas and text = 6
    • Alignment: centre
    • Numeration: required if formula is referenced in the text; right justification of number
    • A software formula editor (MathType) up to version 6 is recommended for setting formulas (a layout programme is integrated with this editor); if you do not have access to the recommended editor, use the built-in MS Word editor
    • Set simple formulas as ordinary text with spaces before and after mathematical symbols; a minus sign is set with an en dash
    Illustrations (graphs, diagrams, plans, etc.)
    • Black and white images, without solid fill, are to be submitted in the programme in which they were designed as well as in the form of an image embedded in the text. All images must be saved in a separate folder.
    • Numeration: uniform through article
    • Captions: required, 14-point font, single spaced
    • All illustrations must be referenced in the text
    • Scanned images are not accepted
    Proper nounsSurnames, names of companies, products, etc. are rendered in the original language. Transliteration of proper nouns with Russian letters is permitted with the addition of the original name (in the first instance). 
    Quotation marks
    • French quotation marks («Guillemets») are to be used. Use of double quotation marks “Text” is permitted only in the case of secondary quotation («Text: “Text 1”»). Independent use of double quotation marks “Text” is not permitted.
    • Names of foreign companies and websites are rendered without quotation marks.
    Creating references to sources[Leonov, 2006, p. 75]
    [Leonov, V.L., 2006, p. 89] — if there are multiple authors with the same surname
    [Leonov, 2006b] — if one author has multiple works in the same publication year
    [Leonov, Dmitrieva, 2006, p. 75–89] — if a work has two authors
    [Leonov et al., 2006, p. 75–89], [Williamson et al., 2006, p. 75–89] — if a work has more than two authors
    references to electronic sources are made in the same way as print sources (the words “electronic resource” are NOT added)
    [Quality Management System, 2006] — if a work does not have an author indicated
    [Quality Management…, 2006] — if a name is long, a shortened version should be used that still allows the source to be found in the bibliographic list
    [Leonov, Dmitrieva, 2006, p. 75–89; Petrov, 1998, p. 10] — if reference to several sources is required
    [Ibid.] – used for consecutive references to the same work
    [Federal Law No. 239] — used in reference to a legal act
    Creating list of references
    • name: References
    • only those sources referenced in the text are included; no more than 10 sources are recommended
    • format: font size — 12, spacing — 1.5, alignment — edgewise, indentation — automatic, 1.25/1.27 cm, alphabetic (first in Russian, then in foreign languages); numeration not required
    • author name is italicized
    • if a reference is made to a work from journal or collection, page numbers are REQUIRED
    • indication of number in foreign source: No. 1
    • works with three or more authors use the first author with the words et al. The author names are not written out in full in the description either.
    • When referencing an electronic resource, do not simply include the address; every page has a name; wrote URL before the address; indicate the date visited in parentheses; if the reference ends directly with an address, a period at the end is not used.
